The Hill's Wiring Inc. Story...
Hills Wiring has been part of the Baraboo area for more than 110 years, beginning in 1916 when Max F. Hill started an electrical company at a time when electricity itself was still new. His original shop was located in the Village of Lyons, the area now known as West Baraboo.
As the demand for electrical service grew, so did the business. Max welcomed Bob Hansch as a partner in 1920, followed by another chapter of growth when his sons returned home from serving in the military and joined the family business.
When Max retired in 1956, the next generation carried the company forward. His son Max Jr. continued the business as Hill's Wiring and Woodworking, and in 1965, Doug Hill joined the company after completing his service in the U.S. Navy.
The business continued to evolve over the following decades. In 1970, the woodworking division was purchased by Doug's brother, Larry Hill, and "Woodworking" was dropped from the company name. Doug became an owner in late 1979, and in January 1980, the business was incorporated as Hill's Wiring, Inc. When Max Jr. retired in 1985, Doug took over operations and continued building on the foundation generations of the Hill family had established before him.
Today, Hills Wiring has grown into a team of 24 employees serving residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural customers throughout the area. From traditional electrical work to design/build projects and data and communications, the technology and capabilities have changed considerably since 1916.
What hasn't changed is our commitment to quality work, trusted relationships, and the communities we've been proud to serve for more than a century.
